First and foremost, there are 100 miles of splendid public beaches in Barnstable. On the quiet north side is Sandy Neck, an eight mile barrier beach with dunes, beach grasses and marshlands alongside Cape Cod Bay. To the south are the warm waters of Nantucket Sound and popular Craigville Beach and Kalmus Beach, famous for windsurfing and kite-boarding. Sea Street Beach and sheltered Veterans Beach welcome residents and tourists alike. Recreational boating and swimming are popular in all areas as are our kettle ponds and lakes for kayakers.

Barnstable is a bounty of sports attractions and activities. The Cape Cod Summer Baseball League attracts top collegiate players and provides great free entertainment June through August. Cheer on the Hyannis Mets! There are summer soccer leagues, lacrosse and a variety of other sporting events.

In addition to the beaches, fishing and kite flying, the Hyannis area offers playgrounds, miniature golf, bike paths, hiking, tennis & racquetball clubs, golf courses and bowling.

The seven villages of Barnstable include Hyannis, Centerville, Osterville, Cotuit, Marstons Mills, West Barnstable and Barnstable Village. Together they offer historic homes, beautiful beaches, golf, fabulous dining and numerous attractions including the JFK Hyannis Museum.
