Play in Hyannis

First and foremost, there are 100 miles of splendid public beaches in Barnstable. On quiet north side is Sandy Neck, an eight mile long barrier beach with dunes, beach grasses and marshlands alongside Cape Cod Bay; to the south are the warm waters of Nantucket Sound and popular Craigville Beach; Kalmus Beach, where windsurfing is available; Orrin Keyes or Sea Street Beach and sheltered Veterans Beach welcome residents and tourists alike.

Sports enthusiasts and spectators will find sports attractions and activities bountiful in and around Hyannis.
Fishing and Boating are more than just hobbies on Cape Cod; they're lifetime passions.
The Cape Cod Summer Baseball League attracts the nation's top collegiate players and provides great free entertainment June through August. Cheer on the Hyannis Baseball team!
The Cape Cod Crusaders is a professional soccer team with a game schedule that starts in April and ends in July.
In addition to the beaches, fishing and kite flying, the Hyannis area has playgrounds, miniature golf courses, bike paths, tennis & racquetball clubs, golf courses, windsurfing beaches and a bowling facility. There are amusement centers located on Main Street and Route 132. Bicycle path maps are available for sale at the Chamber office.
Or, if you like to golf there are two town owned championship golf courses available and a par three course at the local conference center.
Barnstable C C Pathways Trail Guide Information

Map 1 Sandwich Town Line to Route 149 Trail length 2.8 miles
Access to the trail begins at the intersection of Great Hill Rd. and Old Mill Road. Follow Old
Mill to intersection with Popple Bottom Rd. The cross-town trail is marked with C C Pathway
markers and red arrow trail markers. Precede an additional 1000+/- feet on Popple Bottom to
narrow trail on left. Red arrows continue to identify the trail from this point to the Access Rd.
west of Rt. 149. (At this spot you will also see a map Kiosk and green arrows. The green arrows
mark a southern loop that will take you along the cart roads to the next intersecting point with the
Red Trail on Crocker Road.) The red trail is a narrow walking path until you reach about half
way along the 1.9-mile route where trail intersects Crocker Rd. At that point go north on Crocker
Road for a distance of about 1000 feet (2/10ths mile) to the red trail on the right heading east.
This intersection is well marked with red markers and a trail map kiosk. Follow the red trail to
the parking lot under the electric power lines @ the Service Road.
(At the Crocker Road intersection you will also see blue trail markers for a northern loop
and green trail markers for the southern loops. For cross-town hiking stay on the red trail.)
From the parking lot it is short walk north on Route 149 (0.6 mile) to the West Barnstable fire
station where the red trail resumes at the rear of the parking lot on its way to the east as shown on
Map 2. Route 149 to Cape Cod Community College Trail length 2.9 miles
Beginning behind the West Barnstable Fire Station, a map kiosk defines the cross-town trail.
Cape Cod Pathways markers and red arrow trail markers will take you 4000 feet east to the
Jenkins Preserve through the Bridge Creek Conservation Area. From the Jenkins Preserve
parking area on Church Street, you will see blue and red arrows. The blue indicate a local north
loop path. From the parking lot, proceed south across Church Street to continue on the red trail,
which goes through licensed private property for about 1500 feet south to the southerly end of
Shaw's lane at Parker Rd. At Parker Road there is a cranberry bog on the left and a second bog
directly across the street. Follow Parker Rd south (right) for about 1000 feet to the edge of the
Mid Cape Highway where you will see red trail markers on the left. Follow the red arrow trail
markers, which run easterly and parallel with the Mid Cape Highway, for 5500 feet to a dirt
Road, Plum Street. Go south (right) on Plum Street about 400 feet to the red trail on the left that
takes you along the southerly edge of the electric power easement for 450 feet to Oak Street.
Cross Oak Street to the red marked trail that will take you along the southerly edge of the electric
power line easement for 2000 feet. At this point follow red markers left across the easement
going northeast to the red marked trail that will continue another 2000feet to the rear of the
YMCA parking lot and on to Route 132. Cross Route 132 to the Community College, parking lot
seven (# 7).
Map 3. C. C. Community College through Barnstable Village Trail length 4.4 miles
The red trail markers and a map kiosk are located on the backside of Parking lot # 7. The trail
takes you east for a distance 1.4 miles, more or less. CC Pathways markers and red arrows, are in
place along the trail. At the end of this portion of the trail you will be in the Old Jail Lane
parking lot. Cross Old Jail Lane into Pine Lane (unimproved), follow red markers for about 600
feet where there is an intersecting alternate south loop trail on the right designated with green
arrow markers (see below). To follow the red arrows into the village center where public
services are available continue straight ahead on Pine Lane. Leaving the village continue east,
proceed to the red trial at the Trayser "Coast Guard" Museum 400 feet east of the traffic light on
Main Street. The cross-town red trail markers are visible next to the Old Jail and the Trayser
carriage shed at the rear of the property. This part of the red trail will bring you 3500 feet to the
south and Braggs Lane across from Acre Hill Road. Note: At the traffic light, hikers have the
option of following the blue trail down to the harbor and along the marsh on Commerce
Road as shown on the map.
@ Bragg's Lane, go left (east) and walk 1900 feet to Flintrock Road. Follow Flintrock Road
southeasterly for 2100 feet to the top of the hill and cross Boulder Road. Look for red trial
markers and a map kiosk on the wood road extension of Flintrock Road. This 5200-foot trail will
bring you to Mary Dunn Road opposite the water tanks where a map kiosk is in place.
(Alternate southern loop: If you choose to avoid the village center, turn right off the Pine
Lane red trail and follow the green trail markers (previously described) 2500 feet out to
Phinney's Lane opposite Old Hyannis/Barnstable Road. Follow Old H/B Rd. to Braggs
Lane on the left and continue east on Braggs Lane and the red trail markers opposite the
paved Acre Hill Rd. Continue east to Flintrock Road as described above.
Section 4. Mary Dunn's Road to Willow Street Trail length 1.25 miles
When you reach Mary Dunn Road all signs and trail markers are discontinued.
After descending the steep grade onto Marry Dunn's Rd. turn right and walk under the Mid Cape
Highway. Approximately 200 feet beyond and south of the highway bridges on the east side of
the road you will see a ten-foot boulder. (Note: The land belongs to the Massachusetts Fish &
Wildlife agency and they do not allow signs of any kind on their properties.) Go up the steep
grade of the road shoulder to a well used trail running east / southeast, follow it for about 900 feet
where it intersects with a west to east rough grade gravel road. Follow the road to a point where
the road begins it's final turn right, at that point there is a short cul-d'-sac roadway which you will
follow to the end. At the end of the cul-d'-sac, a footpath will take you east, adjacent to and
parallel with to Route 6. Red trial markers will reappear and guide you to Willow Street and the
railroad tracks. Through hikers turn left at the Railroad tracks, follow the tracks north to a point
just prior to the southerly edge of Dennis pond on the opposite side of Willow Street. Across the
street you will see a parking area and trail head signs to take you further east in the town of
Yarmouth along the southern edge of the pond.
